Izzy's puts flame-grilled favorites on full-time status; shifts focus of tv advertising

On June 1st, Izzy's inaugurated a new chain-wide policy under which customers may order any or all our most popular grilled items on any visit to Izzy's for lunch or dinner. These "permanent proteins" include St. Louis Style Ribs, Steak, Glazed Chicken and Carolina Pulled Pork. (Grilled Mixed Vegetables will also be available full time.) As before, when orders have been placed and prepared, the selected grilled items may be picked up at the window, or brought to the customer's table by an Izzy's server. Meanwhile, with grills now installed in all stores, the Izzy's tv campaign has shifted emphasis to the unlimited variety/value/flavor combinations that are unique to Izzy's ("where else"), not just at the walk-up grills, but on the salad, hot food, pizza and dessert bars as well.
Clackamas to Newberg: moving in a positive direction

An irresolvable lease renewal impasse has led to the closing of our Clackamas location, but the good news for Izzy’s customers in that area is that the Oregon City Izzy's is just a short distance away. Meanwhile, there's great news for residents and businesses in the Sherwood/Newberg neighborhood: the owner-operator at Clackamas is moving to an all-new modern facility in the center of Newberg's busiest retail strip — complete with walk-up grill and all sorts of special features and activities. (Watch for the Grand Opening this October.)

At Izzy's, we think Fathers are too special to be honored just once a year; so bring Dad to Sunday Brunch at any participating Izzy's this Father's Day, June 21st, and he'll go home with a Certificate good for a Free Dinner Buffet on his next visit. (Sure, it's nice to say it with a necktie, but even better to say it by treating him to our sumptuous Sunday Buffet!)

Chef Marko to welcome customers at upcoming Grill Openings

Recent openings of walk-up grills in Beaverton, Corvallis and Newport mark the midway point in completing the installation of Open Flame Grills throughout the Izzy's chain. And "Chef Marko" himself will be dropping by in person to welcome customers to the official Grill openings at most or all locations slated to fire up their grills over the coming months. (E-Grill Rewards Club members will receive advance notice of Marko's scheduled appearances; so if you're not yet a member, just click on the Rewards Club link, and follow the simple procedures to join.)

Izzy's customers in Eugene, Springfield, Bend, Redmond, Portland (Eastport) and Hazel Dell (WA) can now "step right up" to the newly installed Open Flame Grills in those locations. Meanwhile, Izzy's in Corvallis, McMinnville and Newport are scheduled to be Grill-ready within the next few weeks. The remaining Izzy's will be adding grills later in 2009… a timely commemoration of the year marking Izzy's 30th Anniversary of service to Northwest diners.

As quick with a quip as he is with a recipe, the flamboyant "Chef Marko" personifies the fun and excitement — and love of great food — accompanying the installation of Open-Flame Grills now completed or underway in all Izzy's locations. Izzy's new spokes-chef makes his public debut in television and newspaper ads starting in January-February. Later, Chef Marko will make "guest Chef appearances" at various Izzy's locations. The first walk-up, open-flame grill is now open inside Izzy's in Albany (2115 Pacific Blvd SW), providing a preview of one of the many exciting new attractions coming soon to all Izzy's locations.
Featuring daily and nightly fresh-grilled "Specials" that customers order direct from the chef to take to their tables, the grill menus include flame-heated meats, chicken, fish and vegetables, along with everything on Izzy's popular salad, pizza, hot food and dessert bars. (All selections from the grill are covered in the regular price of Izzy's Lunch or Dinner Buffet.)
The grill is part of the remodeling now underway or nearing completion at all Izzy's locations, and a key component of what the company's management calls the "New Izzy's". Symbolized by a stylish brushed-silver redesign of the traditional logo (soon to be unveiled at all stores), the remodeling program includes warm new colors and natural stone décor accents inside and out, in addition to new fixtures such as the open grill and other innovations to the menu and facilities.
